About Silver Ash Photography

Hello there!

My name is Rosanna, and I live in South East London. I am a qualified custom/fine art photographer (full explanation) which means my photography goes beyond the identikit images you might find elsewhere.

I do not hurry a session and allow plenty of time for me to get to know everyone involved and vice-versa – you will find me very approachable and friendly and I love children!  Sessions will usually take at least an hour, often more to allow everyone to fully relax and for ideas to flow both ways because I want you to be very happy with the end result.  It is not all about what I want although of course I will offer advice and suggestions too. I try to capture natural expressions and poses; these will be photos that reflect personalities.

Every photograph you choose will be painstakingly edited and processed to bring out the very best. We can discuss the styles of post-processing you would like – I offer a variety of styles ranging from clean realism to fancy effects and of course black and white. I can also take reasonable editing requests from clients as well (the camera can lie sometimes!)

You will see the difference between my photographs and a regular high street-style photo session or a “shoot and burn” photographer. Custom photography is not cheap but it is a quality investment for your memories in years to come, and you do get what you pay for. I’m not happy providing anything other than the best I can from a session.

You can feel secure in your decision in choosing me to capture your precious moments for several reasons. I have been taking professional photographs for a good few years now, including many years of hard work learning advanced photo editing skills. Along the way I studied hard at college to gain a distinction at C&G Level 2 in Studio Photography. I only use professional equipment (Nikon full frame camera and lenses) and professional software (Photoshop CS5/Lightroom 3) for processing. And it goes without saying I am fully insured, including public liability.

To ensure the highest quality for all my customers, I rarely book more than one client a week and spend that week working on their images on a full time basis. Therefore I am often booked up many weeks in advance so it is advisable to book early to have the best choice of slot. Newborns I can sometimes squeeze in at the last minute if there is space (best to photograph at under ten days) but it is better to book a floating slot around your due date instead.

At this time I am only available weekends and evenings for shooting the actual session – however Thursday and Friday daytimes are sometimes possible to arrange with reasonable notice.

I shoot most forms of portrait, including newborns, babies, breastfeeding, children, adults, maternity, engagement – you name it.  In addition I also have experience of band photography and would love to shoot more.

Please take a look at my pricing and my gallery for examples of my work (if you haven’t already) to help you decide if my type of photography would be a good fit for your requirements. My gallery pages also give a little more information on the different sorts of sessions I can offer you.

Most of my photography takes place outdoors in natural surroundings. I no longer do full studio in your home as most places do not have the space for a session that would bring out the best. Instead I will be having a Studio Day a few times a year in a large hired space, where you can book individual slots. Newborns will still take place in your home unless you wish to bring them along to a Studio Day.

For information on how things are likely to go when booking with me, please read the “How it works” page which should explain most things.

For further information, please see my terms and conditions.

I regret at this stage I am not interested in wedding day photography.

If I do not cover your area (i.e. London and many parts of SE England) please take a look at my recommendations for other parts of the country, and indeed the world.
