How your Booking and Session works

If you are interested in a session with Silver Ash Photography, here is how things are likely to go. This applies to a full session only, for a mini session things may be a little different.

To ensure the highest quality for all my customers, I rarely book more than one client a week and spend that week working on their images on a full time basis. Therefore I am often booked up many weeks in advance so it is advisable to book early to have the best choice of slot. Newborns I can sometimes squeeze in at the last minute if there is space (best to photograph at under ten days) but it is better to book a floating slot around your due date instead.

How a photo session worksStep 1: Contact me. The best way to do this is via the enquiries form, or email me at info @ I will get back to you as soon as possible – don’t be surprised if you get a reply at 2am!

Step 2: We sort out the type of session you want, then we work out the time, date and location for the session. I point you to the section of my website where you can register your details, and pay your session fee with any extra additions (e.g. travel expenses, extra subjects) via PayPal/credit card. No session goes ahead until the session fee has been paid, and it is due at least 48 hours before the session begins. You can also choose, where applicable, your favourite choice of background or props so I know which to bring along.

Step 3: The day before the session I will email you to reconfirm everything and have a few last minute discussions if necessary about the shoot itself. I will also send you a copy of the model release and copyright notice forms that I will need you to sign on the day if you have not required them sooner. Signing the model release form is not compulsory, but it’s very much appreciated as I love to share my images and I won’t be able to do a sneak peak without it. Some special offers may not apply if the model release form is not signed.

Step 4: Day of the shoot. I will meet you as planned. We’ll probably spend a short while having a chat and signing forms, and exchanging ideas. If necessary, I will set everything up although in the case of the Studio Session Day, I will have got everything ready before you arrive. The session goes ahead, we get some cracking photos, I pack up and say goodbye!

How a photo session worksStep 5: 5-20 days later (you will be advised) your images will be ready. If you are nearby we can do in-person ordering if you would like. You will always receive a link to an online gallery of all your edited proofs. You can share this gallery with family and friends. You will be able to not only view your images, but choose the ones you would like and in what form and order them. You can then pay via PayPal or credit card. If you would like me to make a storyboard/birthday card/announcement card out of the images, I can do this for you and upload it to the gallery too. The gallery will be active for 7 days. If you need the gallery rehosted after this time, it may be subject to a small administration fee.

Step 6: Once the gallery is published, so long as you signed a model release, I’ll post a “sneak peak” to my blog here with small versions of a few of the fully edited proofs. Feel free to share the link and hang around to see what others think!

Step 7: You will usually receive your order (tracked via Royal Mail or courier) within a week or two, depending on what you have ordered. For instance books need to be designed and take a while to be printed so these may take a little longer. You will be advised once you have placed your order of the likely time frame. You can check on the status of your order at any time via the website.

Step 8: You are always welcome to make future orders from your session (I will rehost the gallery if required) and if you return to Silver Ash Photography, you will get a 10% discount on top of any existing offers for all future orders! Any testimonials are very gratefully received too.

Any questions, do feel free to drop me an email/fill in the contact form at any stage! For further information you can also read my terms and conditions.
